The World Has Gone Crazy!!!

The stock market is crashing, giant companies are closing after 100+ years, politicians are battling back and forth, and gas prices are at an all time high. And what is next to make this world even nuttier….I’ll tell you what…FOOD QUANTITIES!!! That’s right every company in the world is shrinking their food quantities left and right. They must think American consumers are not right in the head or something, but this is one American that is not buying it! The first one I noticed was Ice Cream companies…they have all shrunk their Ice Cream by about a pint making them 1.75 Quarts, instead of the original half gallon (BTW, Bryers is down to 1.5 quarts). I guess they thought we would not notice since they were using the metric system now. Then, I started noticing that I was finishing off my favorite cereal’s a lot faster than usual. I thought it might be the fact that I really like cereal, then I noticed that all the cereal brands (Kellogg, Post, General Mills) have taken every box down by as much as 2.5 ounces. The saddest part about that…they are charging MORE for the cereal…..AHHHHHHHH, don’t they know that my children and I kill off a box a week. This is NOT GOOD!! Well, I thought it could not get any worse, but I was at Wendy’s the other day, and I ordered a couple of junior bacon cheeseburgers. I haven’t had them in a while, so I decided to get my normal two burgers & a side salad. Well, I was starving after eating them. Why was I starving…well, because each burger was about 3/4 the size they used to be. It is sad my friends…even Altoids are smaller…soon, they will just be Tic-Tacs. What is happening to America? I hope Chipotle is not next!!

I’m back, and on the attack, lol!!

Ok, so I just like to be over dramatic, and I like to rhyme a lot (at least according to this blog title).  My wife, Johanna has a pretty awesome blog, and she has been making fun of me for never updating this blog, so I had to come back!!  Seriously, I really plan on keeping this up, so be ready for some funny posts, some serious posts, but no matter what you get, it will be crazy stuff from inside my head.  This summer has been a crazy one, but I have really enjoyed all the retreats, events, & mission trips.  The youth have blown me away with the way they are growing in Christ.  We have had several people bringing new friends into the ministry, and many of my guys are growing in their leadership roles!!  With D-Groups right around the corner, I am excited to see what God is up to for this new school year!!

Expelled!!!

Ok, if you are even remotely interested in the debate of Evolution vs. Intelligent Design, then you MUST see this movie. It is so eye opening to the ridiculousness that current day Neo-Darwin supporters will go to just to silence anyone who would disagree with them. I thought the film was done in a tasteful way that did not dog the evolutionist…instead, it allowed them to destroy themselves. Ben Stein was amazing and he challenges the status quo like no other. You have got to check out this movie!! Now, on a lighter note…Tim Young (my fellow D-Group Leader) and I met our D- Group tonight to see the movie. He and I made sure that everyone got in, so we were close to last getting in. Well, we get to the front of the line, and the girl asks us if we are “Chaperon’s” for our group. We were both like, “well, yes we are”, so she let us in for FREE!!! That was freaking awesome, because I do not know if you know this or not, but movies cost a fortune now days!!!! I think the theater as we know will not exist in 10 – 20 years, but until then, go see Expelled…it is definitely worth the money (even though I did not pay)!!!

This is priceless…these are 2 of my seniors and 1 junior doing a great cover of the Back Street Boys. Quite possibly one of the funniest things I have ever seen!! They called themselves “Flier Than A Rabbi” and they won our first annual “Riverland Hills Got Talent” show!

“God will save us!”

These very words almost brought tears to my eyes!!  I came home from church Wednesday night, and Abigail was still awake, so I slipped into her room for a goodnight hug & kiss.  We have recently been reading Bible stories to her, and this is great, because she loves them, especially Jonah, Joshua, David, and the parables.  Well, I asked her if she had said her prayers yet, and she said “no”, so we proceeded to pray to Jesus.  At the end of the prayer, I said, “God is good to us, isn’t he?”.  She replied, “God will save us”, and my heart swelled like never before.  It is always amazing for me when I get a chance to hear my youth talk about God, but oh how much more special the words when it is your own child.  She is not ready for a salvation talk yet, but I feel so good knowing that she is picking up what we are daily trying to teach her.  Johanna and I are doing our best to point her to God, and to teach her obedience to Him.  The whole experience reminded me of the famous passage, Luke 18:15-17, “But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”  Just remember that as Christians, we are God’s children, so come before Him with a child-like faith.

Anyone Expelled Yet???

Ok, if you have not heard of Ben Stein’s “Expelled” movie trailer, you need to check it out.  www.expelledthemovie.com   I have not seen the movie yet, which is out in theatre’s now, however my D-Group and I are heading to the movie next Wednesday night (so don’t ruin it for me..lol)!!  I am pumped to see it, because I feel Stein’s pain…as a minister, I am constantly feeling like defending the idea of Intelligent Design or Creationism is a giant up-hill battle.  It is always so hard to defend something that is not the most popular idea on the block, but it is worth the fight, especially when a movie like this comes into play.  God bless Ben Stein…check it out soon!!!
